Lisa Bell-Hanner is the founder and president of the Christian-based non-profit organization called O.R.Y. Women Inc: Older women Reaching back for the Younger women. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization as recognized by IRS. Lisa is a visionary that realizes there is an ever-increasing disconnect between Spirit led and mature older women and young women and girls in many communities, all across the country, and world-wide. Lisa has found that too many of these women are not passing down godly wisdom, sharing their faith about God, offering basic life and family skills, shared experiences, and providing overall wellness information to the younger generations. Thus, many younger women and girls are being deprived of a cherished ritual among women that she and many others ladies had benefited from growing up.
More than ever before today, at alarming rates, too many of our young ladies, are being deceived and blinded by our enemy of spiritual wickedness, the devil, have no real knowledge of God or the Bible, living according to the world’s standards, fatherless, looking for love in all the wrong places, single mothers, high school drop-outs, high unemployment, smokers, homeless, addicted to drugs and alcohol, addicted to illegal prescription drugs, in prison, losing their children at alarming rates through the court system due to negligence, being human trafficked through stripper clubs, prostitution, and on-line sex video sites that sell young girls’ bodies.
Thus, O.R.Y. Women decided to reach back as spiritually mature older women and take the hands of young women and teens in the community and connect them with spiritual empowerment tools by passing down our faith in God through Jesus Christ, providing free Bibles, and a host of resources, to better equip them for life’s challenges and help them to become more productive through our Christian and secular mentorship programs and basic life skills training. We also are reaching back as older women by sharing our past poor choices, victories, and successes to strengthen and encourage young women to help decrease their regrets, heartaches, and irreversible negative consequences.
Connecting young ladies with resources, is part of our community development effort to reduce barriers and bridge gaps, that makes accessing information and resources difficult, by offering a centralized location and/or event where many service providers from different organizations and businesses, are made available to participants, that will help stabilize living situations, and provide economic-growth opportunities for low and moderate young women and teen young ladies.
This is accomplished through O.R.Y. Women’s: Annual Young Women’s and Teen Young Ladies’ Conference, “Just In Case You Did Not Know” Community Outreach, Walk N Share Picnic Day, Free Bibles, On-line Prayer Requests, and On-line Daily Inspirations at www.orywomen.org etc.
It is also O.R.Y. Women’s future goal to create a phone center, where young ladies and girls will be able to call in and bear their heavy hearts and minds to spiritually mature women in Christ who would provide them with suggested Bible answers and prayer. In addition, it is also a goal of O.R.Y. Women to establish a counterpart called O.R.Y. Men Inc., (Older men Reaching back for the Younger men), for the young men and boys, with the same mission as O.R.Y. Women Inc.
Lisa believes that we must take back our young ladies from the worldly ills that are deceiving them. O.R.Y. Women desires to plant seeds of godly living, self respect, success, and encouragement in the hearts and minds of our young women and teens. Lisa as the primary Speaker for O.R.Y. Women.
